Every race you do (with the exception of some 'fun' races they just started doing on Friday/Saturdays) is part of an official series.
#Race 07 vs gtr evolution plus
In iRacing, you're subscribing to the iRacing service, which is the simulation plus the overall sanctioning body. The 'service' aspect is where the 2 sims are very different. The LFS tire model has some things that iRacing doesn't (flat spots are modeled more correctly as are dirty tires).

LFS also allows driver swaps for endurance races. They did just add engine damage to iRacing, though. In iRacing you don't have to lift to shift in any cars and you can't stall a car. LFS does have some things that iRacing doesn't, though. So for cars and tracks, iRacing wins it for me.
You can really tell that there is a big team and a lot of money behind iRacing. At the end of the beta, I got a letter saying they've spent $22 million on the sim so far. The development team is much bigger with iRacing (LFS is 3 guys). They've announced some other cars but I think they'll come further down the pipeline. A Riley Daytona Prototype is coming soon-ish, as is a Spec Racer Ford. They've also added the NASCAR Craftsman Truck and Silver Crown cars on the oval side since I've joined. They've added oval tracks, too, but I only pay attention to the road course stuff. Since I joined in May, they've added Sebring, Barber, and PIR. When was the last time a new track was released for LFS (not just a new config like SO6)? In iRacing, they're pretty consistent about adding new tracks. The cars are also based on real cars, which is neat but not as big of a deal to me (I don't really care what I'm 'driving' as long as the physics are simulated properly). You can really feel the difference between an iRacing track and an LFS track. The tracks are laser scanned to perfection, so it's not like some artist decided to draw the track - it's accurate to the millimeter including all the little bumps. I now know all of the turns at Road America, Sebring, Barber, Lime Rock, Infineon, and more, which are all tracks I haven't driven yet. To help my real life driving, this is key for me. One of the coolest parts about iRacing is that it's all real tracks. In iRacing, you have to be smooth on the initial application of the brakes, and on most cars you can't push the pedal all the way down or you'll lock up the tires.Ĭontent wise, iRacing wins hands down. You just slam the brake pedal all the way down no matter what car you're in. One of the things that always bugged me in LFS is braking.
#Race 07 vs gtr evolution pro
I'm by no means a pro driver, but I do have a fair amount of track experience. LFS, the iRacing physics just feel more realistic to me. There are 2 components of iRacing: the sim and the service.Ĭomparing the sim aspect of iRacing vs.
I'll try to give you an overview of iRacing, and the differences between iRacing and LFS. I've definitely been converted to iRacing, though.
I was a big LFS fan, and raced in a lot of leagues (Masters of Endurace, IGTC, LOTA).
